11 tips to safe driving

When you prepare for a long journey or your entire family is sitting behind you, it is really important to concentrate on driving. It is worth following some advice 

1) Get a good sleep before setting off and do not start without eating

2) Drinks with caffein are not highly recommended. They keep you awake for a while but with the decrease of their effect your attention will decrease as well.

3) Every 2-3 hour you should keep a break even if you do not feel tired. Have a bite and take some deep breaths and do some exercise.

4) If it is possible, share responsibility with someone else and do not drive alone the whole way. Thus you can sleep without losing time and you can support the other person when you are not tired.

5) When you travel alone, listen to the radio, open the window a bit and let the fresh air refresh you.

6) Do not drink a lot the previous day either. You hangover can seriously decrease your concentration and attention

7) Check the weatherforecast. If weather conditions seem to be unfriendly you might have to replan your journey.

8) Right before set off check the internet for road constructions, accidents and make sure no obstucles will cause difficulties

9) GPS devices are not infallible. Take a map with you.

10) If your car is too old and you cannot be sure that it won’t break down on the way, rent a younger, regularly maintained car instead.

11) If you travel with a rented car, make sure it is not the first time you drive it. If you have never driven that modell arrange a test drive the previous day.
